First things first, I would like to get it running before I start doing anything to it. Once it's running reliably enough and all the necessary systems, like brakes work, I will be looking into getting some cheap, used racing seats for the front and installing a roll cage. I have a friend who said he would gladly teach me how to weld and let me use his tools as long as I bought the material, gas, and beer. I've been reading up on how to do simple fiberglass wet layups so I will be making a fiberglass hood and deck lid which should cut 50+lbs off the car. The interior and bumpers will be removed as well saving easily 100+lbs. The interior will consist of two seats, a roll cage, and a small dash with only the necessary gauges.
Down the road I will start looking for a wrecked 4 or 5spd 740 turbo to swap the engine and tranny from since the Colonel is a slushbox. Bilsteing shocks and a brake upgrade from either a 9 series or a Nissan will be in order along with lexan windows to save some more weight. By this point there should be a full roll cage and the chassis will be braced. The stock engine will be built up until it maxes out power with stock items. Then down the road the car will be megasquirted and a larger holset turbo will be thrown on along with a ford T5 tranny. I'll be shooting for 250-300 WHP. Many little changes and additions will happen along this journey as well, I just don't know what they all will be.
The only thing I am still undecided about is the paint. Part of me wants to leave it mustard yellow as it fits the age and makes it less attractive to others, including the police. However I would also like to paint the Swedish flag on the roof or repaint the car flat black. I guess I don't have to do anything about it right now so I've got a lot of time to think.

Yay! another project vehicle!
I found this car on craigslist one of those times I was browsing just to see what was available, not intending to buy a car. I've always wanted a 242, I think the two door looks better and for my purposes is a better layout. Anyways, I emailed the person, forgot about the car and then he emailed me back about a week later and said I could have it for 200$. It had a "running engine" but a broken fuel pump and it was missing a battery. I didn't have a trailer and I really hate uhaul so I figured that was that, besides I really didn't need to spend that 200$ + the trailer fee when I'm not working and have little money. He ended up being desperate to get rid of the car since it wasn't actually at his house and it needed to leave. We settled on 150$ and I went out to rent a car dolly from uhaul, so for 195$ total I had another car!
Part of that agreement was he could have the interior panels and the drivers side window, no problem since I wasn't going to keep any of that stuff to begin with. So here it is in all it's glory.
After washing it off it did look significantly better and now hopefully the neighbors won't get the urge to complain to the city.
Being a full time and then some college student, school and Formula SAE have gotten in the way of me doing anything to the car at all and at the moment it's just sitting in front of the house with a trash bag keeping rain out of the missing window.
This will probably be a sparsely update blog until this summer when I don't have school obligations.
